Hallo Ihr Lieben! Es ist mal wieder soweit, das Jahr geht wie immer schneller zu Ende, als man es sich hätte träumen lassen – und wie immer hat das Ende auch dieses Jahr einen etwas bitteren Beigeschmack, wenn man sich die aktuelle Lage der Daimler Financial Services und deren Zukunftspläne anschaut. Aber das ist ein anderes Thema. Ich bin überzeugt, in Retrospektive irgendwann einmal jüngeren Daimler Kollegen erzählen zu können “Ich war damals dabei, als offensichtliche Fehlentscheidungen getroffen wurden…”

Was ist in den letzten paar Wochen passiert? Ich hatte ja schon lange mit einem NAS geliebäugelt und vor dem Hintergrund, dass Weihnachten so unmittelbar bevorsteht, dachte ich ist es durchaus legitim in dieser Richtung eine Anschaffung zu tätigen. Also habe ich mir kurzerhand den D-Link 323 NAS geholt mit 2x 1TB Festplatten, die ich jetzt schön mit RAID 1 betreibe. Funktioniert eigentlich alles super, bräuchte nur etwas mehr Zeit um mir alles intensiver anzuschauen. Na jedenfalls kann ich jetzt mittels Twonky-Server von überall auf meine Medien zugreifen, auch ein iTunes-Server läuft auf dem Gerät – schick – wobei es erst so richtig schick ist, wenn man sich das Fun-Plug dazuschaltet und das Teil dann als Linux Server betreiben kann.

Dazu dachte ich, passt ein Netzwerk-Player ganz gut – wusste bis vor ein paar Tagen gar nicht, was die Dinger alles können und das es sowas überhaupt gibt. Na jedenfalls habe ich mir den Philips 2900 besorgt. Der kann nun die ganzen Medien vom NAS via WLAN abspielen und beherrscht gleichzeitig auch noch Internetradio, schick, klein und somit auch portabel – mit TV und PC spricht das Teil auch noch.

Ach ja und zu allem Überfluss, musste auch mal wieder ein privates Handy her: Samsung Galaxy S I9000. Da läuft mittlerweile das Android 2.2 drauf und sogar Skype funktioniert, echt spitze, kann man nur empfehlen, da sieht das iPhone ziemlich peinlich aus dagegen :-)

So jetzt aber genug von dem ganzen Techi-Kram, eine anderweitige Empfehlung habe ich noch für die Autofahrer unter Euch: Versucht mal auf einer Rennstrecke an einen SLS zu kommen und macht eine Probefahrt, genial!

Und zwei Restaurant Supertipps habe ich natürlich auch noch parat zum ausprobieren, zur Abwechslung mal für alle Stuttgarter:  Restaurant im Cube und die Weinstube am Stadtgraben (Bad Canstatt)

Für heute bleibt mir nur noch Euch allen frohe Weihnachten zu wünschen, lasst Euch nicht stressen und einen guten Rutsch ins neue – und hoffentlich erfolgreiche – Jahr 2011!

Its me again. This weekend I stayed in Berlin once more. But only this time it was in a great hotel after a really nice team-event with my whole new team. I met some really warm, friendly, nice and interesting people – so yes, I think working in Berlin is going to be a really great adventure and pleasure. A great location was chosen for this kind of event: An old U-Bahn tunnel with nice DJ at night and conference-atmosphere during the day. If only the heating would have been more constant ;-) The night I spent not very far away in a marvelous hotel – so there was beer.

After two days of working / fun underground I spend the second evening at hotel-steffen, a nice cosy place near Hackischer Markt – if only the refrigerator had something in it besides beer ^^ We checked out the Xmas-Markets and some really cool Bars, did you know there are places in Berlin where you don’t have to pay for food. You just leave an “appropriate amount” in a bowl near the door when you leave. Nice concept – but obviously not for swabians… without prejudices.

I hope I find a suitable flat soon…

It is really difficult to do many things at the same time – oh boy! – multi-tasking is absolutely needed for what I am doing at the moment! So I think the time has come to do a little scheduling in order to stay focused regarding the important parts of the journey ahead.

I think it is obvious that there is still much time until the first of february and the keys for my flat. So no need to get crazy about an appartement – but wait – I AM ALREADY :-) My new RSS-Feeds proove that: I now get the newest flat-offers from Immobilienscout24.de in the areas of Prenzlauer Berg and Berlin Mitte. Great & Crazy! I have also contacted some People who put in offers but nobody did answer yet…

Also it is time to think about putting together a to-do list of important stuff. Such as getting my own insurance, checking out which bank is the best in berlin (is there a statistic that states which bank has the most subsidaries in berlin or something like that?), getting rid of all the old things like my car (i dont need it in berlin – in case someone needs a black Renault Twingo) or my ADAC membership…much to do. But I guess these are the most important things to put together in the next weeks, the flat-wonder will happen at some point…

I found an interesting site on the whole moving-topic. I have to check it out more thoroughly though, maybe I will have new clues then on how to proceed. At the moment it is all still a big blurry-thingy.

Oh yes and by the way, my work contract just arrived today. So I am officially hired, voilà!

Ok everyone, this is the first post in my new blog. For additional infos on the background of this site and myself, please check out the pages I set up for that purpose. So I just want to sum up what happend so far regarding the job, moving plans and stuff.

At the end of October I applied for my first real job in Berlin! So I travelled there, answered all the questions, did a short presentation and caught a flight home after a lovely weekend with a friend in Berlin. Ingo Feldmann

Two days ago I received the thumbs-up from Berlin: They want me for the job and I absolutely want to work there and get to know the big city. I was very happy – and still am – about the good news. So this is why I set up this blog and want to document the next steps in the process of moving from Stuttgart to Berlin with all its ups and hopefully few downs.
